How to Set Up Your Alexa Tablet

Turn on your Alexa Tablet and follow the on-screen instructions to set it up.

Basic Requirements

Before you begin, have the following ready:

  • Your Alexa Tablet and in-box accessories
  • An Amazon account, including your email address or phone number and password.
  • An internet connection, including your Wi-Fi name and password.
  • A Google account to access the Google Play Store, Gmail, YouTube, and other Google apps and services.

What's in the Box

Your Alexa Tablet comes with the following:

  • Alexa Tablet
  • USB-C charging cable
    Note: For environmental reasons, the device package doesn't include a charger. This device can be powered with most USB power adapters and a cable with USB Type-C plug.

Accessories sold separately: Alexa Tablet Pro Keyboard, Alexa Tablet Pro Pen, and Book Cover are compatible with Alexa Tablet 12 Pro.

How to Set Up Your Device

Video guide to set up your device

  1. Press and hold the Power button on the top edge of your tablet for 3 seconds until the screen lights up.
  2. Select your preferred language.
  3. If you prefer, tap on Accessibility to configure TalkBack, Magnification, or Display Size.
  4. Select Get Started.
  5. If you prefer, choose Set up using another device — follow the on-screen instructions to set up using Android or iOS device.
    1. Set up with an Android phone or tablet: Tap on 'Android device' and scan the QR code to transfer Wi-Fi details, accounts, and settings.
    2. Set up with an iPhone or iPad: Tap 'iPhone or iPad' and connect using a USB-C cable to transfer Wi-Fi and other settings.
  6. Alternatively, you can slect Skip to connect to Wi-Fi manually. Select your network and enter your Wi-Fi password.
    Note: Once you set up the Wi-Fi, it may take a few minutes for the device to update with the latest software version.
    Note: You can power on your Alexa tablet and complete the initial setup steps without a Wi-Fi connection. Apps and some features require internet access and will be available once you connect to Wi-Fi.
  7. Sign in to Google account when prompted. Enter your email address (or phone number) and password.
    Note: It is recommended to sign in to your Google account to access the Google Play Store and Google apps and services.
  8. Sign in to your Amazon account.
    Note: It is recommended to sign in to your Amazon account to get the best experience of Amazon apps such as Alexa, Prime Video, Kindle, Audible, Amazon Music, and Amazon Photos.
  9. For Alexa Tablet 11 and Alexa Tablet 12 Pro, set up your fingerprint. Follow the on-screen prompts to set up your fingerprint for fast and secured device unlock.
    Note: If you skip the fingerprint set up, set up later in Settings.

Troubleshoot Setup Issues

If setting up your device doesn't go as expected, here are a few suggestions:

  • If your device doesn't power up, make sure to charge your device.
  • If you see an error, hold the power button for 20 seconds to restart your device.
  • If you get a login error or have forgotten your Amazon account password, you can reset your password using this link: Forgot Your Password.
  • If you can't find your network or connect to Wi-Fi, you can find more troubleshooting on Resolve Wi-Fi Connection Issues on Your Tablet.
  • If you're having issues with your Wi-Fi password, contact your internet service provider.
