Device Controls

Component Description
Power button (top edge)
  • Press and hold to power on.
  • Press once to wake up or sleep.
  • Long press to activate default voice assistant.
  • Double tap to open Camera.
Volume buttons (right edge) Increase or decrease speaker and media volume.
Note: Volume up and down buttons interchange in landscape and portrait mode.
USB-C port (bottom edge) Charges the tablet and supports data transfer.
Fingerprint sensor (in power button) Fast and secure unlock.
Front camera (8MP) Video calls, personal avatars, and Alexa hands-free.
Rear camera (13MP) Photos, video, and Explore with Camera.
Pogo connector (bottom edge) Attaches to the Alexa Tablet Pro Keyboard.
Pen charging strip (top edge) Magnetically holds and wirelessly charges the Alexa Tablet Pro Pen.

Home Screen

Feature What it does
For You Page Swipe right from the home screen to open the Discover Page to get personalized content from Kindle, Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+, and more.
Up Next Proactive Alexa suggestions, weather, reminders, and recommended actions and a Google-powered search bar.
Apps Grid Customizable grid to place apps and widgets anywhere.
Apps Dock Quick-access bar with up to 6 pinned apps.
Apps Drawer All installed apps — swipe up to open.
Customize Home screen Press and hold on an empty space on Home screen to change your wallpaper, view App list, and Home settings.
Add Widgets Long press and hold on the home screen to add and arrange.
Search bar Google powered web search.
Alexa Mode Say "Alexa" for hands-free voice interaction. Tap the Alexa button (bottom-right of home screen) for text-first interaction.
X-ray for Everything Press and hold any content on screen, or draw a circle with your Alexa Tablet Pro Pen, to surface a personalized list of your most likely next actions — shop, summarize, translate, share, and more.

Modes

Settings What it does
Dark Theme Dark mode is on by default. To change, go to Settings > Display > Dark Theme.
Kindle Mode Enjoy distraction-free reading that's easier on the eyes, limited notifications, and extended battery life while reading in Kindle.
Do Not Disturb Minimize interruptions by only allowing important people and apps to reach you.
Custom Mode Customize preferred schedule, notifications, and display settings as per your preference.

Gestures

Your Alexa Tablet uses gesture navigation by default. Prefer buttons instead? Go to Settings > System > Gestures > Navigation mode to select 3-button navigation.

Note: 3-button navigation is the traditional navigation icons Back, Home, and Recent layout.
Gesture What it does
Swipe up from the bottom Takes you to Home page.
Swipe from the left or right edge Takes you back to previous screen.
Swipe up and hold To see recent apps.
Swipe left or right along the bottom edge To switch quickly between apps.

Google Play Store

Sign in with your Google account to access Play Store, Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps, and 2M+ apps alongside your Amazon apps.
