How to Set Up Map View

To create a floor plan of your smart home devices, use Map View in the Alexa app.

To set up Map View:

  1. Open the Alexa app .
  2. Select Devices .
  3. Select Map View .
  4. Select Start Now.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Scanning tips:

  • Map View works best when you scan your entire home, even if some rooms don't have smart home devices in them.
  • Make sure that you finish scanning one room before moving on to the next. Don't scan your entire home all at once.
  • If your first scan of a room doesn't work, try rescanning the room. Rescanning the room right away is easier than editing it.
  • When you select a door to add a new room to your floor plan, start scanning the next room from that doorway.
    • Standing in another doorway creates the room in the wrong location.
  • If you have trouble scanning a room, your room might be too dark or there may be objects blocking the corners of the room.
