Alexa Emergency Assist Isn't Working as Expected

If Alexa Emergency Assist isn't working, try these troubleshooting steps.

If you see NEEDS ATTENTION on your Emergency Assist dashboard:

  • Make sure that your profile information is accurate and complete. You need to add a name, address, and phone number to your profile.
  • Add at least one Emergency Contact.
  • Make sure that you're signed into the correct account. Sign in using the same account that purchased the Alexa Emergency Assist subscription. Go to Your Memberships & Subscriptions to view your subscriptions.

If you see INACTIVE on your Emergency Assist dashboard:

  • Make sure that your subscription is active. To check if your subscription is active, open the Alexa app and go to More > Alexa Emergency Assist.
  • Make sure that your profile information is accurate and complete. You need to add a name, address, and phone number to your profile.
  • Add at least one Emergency Contact.

If you see ACTIVE on your Emergency Assist dashboard and are still having issues:

  • Turn on Alexa Communications. Open the Alexa app, then go to Devices > Echo & Alexa. Select the device you're having trouble with, then select Communications to turn Communications on.
  • Turn Alexa app notifications on. Open the Alexa app, then go to More > Settings > Notifications. Select Reminders on this device to turn notifications on.
  • Make sure you're using a compatible Echo device. Echo on-the-go devices aren't compatible with Alexa Emergency Assist.
