Gift Card Redemption Issues
What to do if your Amazon gift card is damaged, unreadable, scratched-off, or simply not working.
The gift card claim code is damaged or unreadable
If the claim code on your physical Amazon.com Gift Card is damaged, unreadable, or scratched-off, contact us. You need to provide us with the following information:
- The 16-digit or 30-digit serial number on the back of the card.
- The order number (if known and the gift card was purchased on Amazon.com).
Amazon.com Gift Cards can only be used on Amazon.com. If the gift card is for a retailer other than Amazon.com, such as Apple, Starbucks, visit Specialty Gift Cards.
The Gift Card has already been redeemed
If you receive this message, the gift card has already been applied to your account, or to another account. To verify that the funds are already in your account, visit Your Gift Card Balance.
After you redeem the gift card on our site, we'll keep the balance in your account for use on future purchases so you don't need to redeem the gift card again.
Your Gift Card was applied to the wrong account
When redeeming a gift card, ensure that you're logged into the correct account.
If someone else has access to the claim code on your physical gift card, or the redemption link for an electronic gift card, it may have been redeemed on another account.
Once redeemed, your Amazon.com Gift Card balance can't be transferred between accounts, or to an Amazon store in a different country.

Other issues
- You are trying to use an Amazon.com Gift Card outside of Amazon.com. Amazon.com Gift Cards can only be used on Amazon.com.
- You are trying to redeem a specialty gift card. If your gift card can be redeemed with another retailer that is specified on the card, visit our Specialty Gift Cards Help page.
- You lost your gift card. If your gift card is an Amazon.com Gift Card that was delivered electronically, visit Resend a Digital Gift Card. If it is a physical Amazon.com or specialty gift card, contact us.
