Make Video Calls On Your Echo Devices with a Screen
Calls to Echo Show devices can use the camera, and add visual effects and reactions.
Note: Settings menu items for
the Echo Hub and Echo Show 5 (all generations) may vary, and those devices will receive a software update soon.
- Go to Communicate
in your device settings:
- If you're using Alexa+, select the Menu
on your screen, then select Communicate
. - If you are using the original Alexa, swipe down from the top of the screen and select Communicate
.
- If you're using Alexa+, select the Menu
- Select Call.
- Select which contact on your account you want to call.
- Select the device that you want to reach them with – select an Echo Show device for a video call.
To turn off the camera at any time, select Video Off
, or press the device Mute button. Press the device Mute button again to turn the camera back on.
Note: Animated Effects and Reactions in calls require Alexa Communication Enhanced Features. You can turn on Enhanced Features when prompted in a call, or with the Alexa app. You only need to turn on Enhanced Features once.
To add animated visual effects during a call, tap the device screen and select Effects
, and select the effect you want. If prompted to turn on Enhanced Features, select Enable. The effect activates on all screens on the call. To stop an effect, tap the screen and select Clear, or select another effect.
To send animated reactions during the call, select Smile
and select a reaction. The reactions play on all screens on the call.
