What Is Frustration-Free Automation?

Alexa may automatically create Routines for you when you set up a new smart home device.

During setup of an Alexa-enabled smart home device, Frustration-Free Automation automatically creates Routines for compatible, connected devices to work together.

For example, if you set up a smart light bulb for your patio, Alexa looks for devices in the same smart home group with compatible functions. Alexa may find a Ring outdoor camera, and create a Routine to increase the brightness of your patio light when the camera detects motion.

Alexa sends a notification in the Alexa app when it creates a Routine for you. To view, edit, deactivate, or delete Routines created by Frustration-Free Automation:

  1. Open the Alexa app .
  2. Select More .
  3. Select Routines.
  4. Select Your Routines. Routines created by Frustration-Free Automation are labeled by Alexa.
  5. Select the Routine that you wish to view, edit, deactivate, or delete.

To deactivate Frustration-Free Automation from creating Routines for you, go to Manage Your Content & Devices.
