Create an Alexa Routine in the Alexa App
Create routines in the Alexa app to automate actions such as controlling smart home devices, playing music, getting weather updates, and more.
To create a routine:
- Open the Alexa app
. - Select More
. - Select Routines.
- Select Plus
. - Select Add an event and follow the steps in the app to choose what starts your routine.
- Select Add an action and follow the steps in the app to choose the action of your routine. You can select multiple actions for the same routine.
Note: When selections are made, events and actions may populate some additional settings to choose from. Some of these settings could include conditions on when these actions can take place, what device is being used for the routine, and more.
- Select Save.
Note: Alexa offers several ways to create personalized routines.
- You can choose whether a routine is for the entire home or an individual Alexa Profile. For example, you could create a routine for your partner's profile that plays a personalized playlist when their morning alarm rings.
- If someone in your home has a Voice ID, you can create a routine that starts when Alexa recognizes them saying a specific phrase.
- If someone in your home has a Visual ID, you can create a Personalized Presence Routine on a compatible Echo device that starts when Alexa recognized them. For more help, go to Create a Personal Presence Routine with Alexa+.
Tip: Turn on Home Monitoring from the
Camera settings on your Echo Show 10 to use person detection with your routines.
