About Share with Alexa+
Share files, images and webpages with Alexa to draft replies to emails, provide summaries, answer questions related to the shared material, and more.
You can share files, images, and webpages with Alexa by emailing them to alexa@alexa.com or in the Alexa app.
There are a few things to keep in mind when you’re sharing files with Alexa:
- Alexa recognizes emails from the email addresses associated with your Alexa profile. If you need to update, add, or remove your email address, follow the steps in Manage the Email Address Used for Share with Alexa+.
- Emails and files must be under 25 MB and in one of the following formats: JPEG, PNG, HEIC, HEIF, PDF, DOCX, RTF, TXT.
- Alexa can reference text within files and recognize objects in images that you share.
- Alexa doesn't support videos or password-protected documents.
- You can review the files you've shared in your Alexa Privacy Settings.
Alexa saves the shared files and uses them to help you with the following:
Add Events to Your Calendar and Set Alexa Reminders
Alexa searches your shared emails, files and webapges for event names, dates, times, and locations. Using that information, Alexa suggests events and reminders to add to your schedule. For future instances, you can also choose to automatically add events and reminders to your schedule (events will be added to your default calendar).
Alexa sends you a confirmation email or phone push notification with details of the suggested or added events and reminders. Select the push notification to review and add extracted items or remove added items.
Answer Questions and Give Summaries
You can ask Alexa questions about your shared emails, files, and webapges or have Alexa summarize them. Alexa references your shared files whenever someone asks questions on your supported Alexa-enabled devices or the Alexa app.
Analyze Images and Get Creative Suggestions
Alexa can also reference the images you share when you ask questions on your supported Alexa-enabled devices or the Alexa app. For example, you can say, "What plants are in this image," or "Describe this image in three sentences."
Add Personal Recipes to Your Cooking l ibrary
When you share a recipe with Alexa, Alexa will extract the recipe and save it to your Cooking Library. You'll have the ability to edit recipe details including ingredients and preparation steps, customize recipe cover photos, and organize all your personal recipes in a centralized location.
These recipes become part of your Cooking Library and appear alongside other recipes when you search for cooking inspiration using Alexa, making it easy to access both your personal recipes and professional content hands-free while you're cooking.
You can access your Cooking Library by saying "show my personal recipes" or by navigating to your Cooking Library in your Alexa app under More or Echo device.
Draft Replies to Emails
When you share emails with Alexa, you can ask for suggested replies. Alexa uses the context and tone of the original email and creates a reply to get you started.
