Use Your Amazon Device as a Temperature Sensor with Smart Thermostat

Certain Echo devices and the Amazon Smart Air Quality Monitor can act as temperature sensors for your Amazon Smart Thermostat.

Built-in temperature sensors in certain Echo devices and the Amazon Smart Air Quality Monitor can detect ambient temperature. Your Amazon Smart Thermostat can use these readings to maintain the desired temperature in your home. If you use more than one temperature sensing device, Alexa adjusts your home temperature using the average temperature detected by all sensors.

Temperature sensing is available on:

  • Echo (4th Generation)
  • Echo Dot (5th Generation)
  • Echo Dot with Clock (5th Generation)
  • Amazon Smart Air Quality Monitor

Use the Alexa app to connect your compatible Echo device or Amazon Smart Air Quality Monitor with your Amazon Smart Thermostat. Select up to 10 devices for temperature sensing.

Note: Depending on your temperature sensing device's location and your home's efficiency, energy usage may go up or down. To understand your home's energy usage, navigate to the Energy Dashboard in Thermostat settings. Go to Energy Estimates for Smart Home Devices to find this dashboard.
