What are the Different Amazon Photos Features?

Amazon Photos lets you securely store, search, share, display, and print your photos and videos from any compatible device.

Storage

  • All Amazon customers get 5 GB of free storage for photos and videos.
  • Amazon Prime members and Alexa+ standalone subscribers get unlimited full-resolution photo storage, plus 5 GB for videos and other files. Available in select countries.
  • Upgrade plans are available. Check Get More Storage for Videos and Photos.
Note: Videos count toward your storage limit.

Backup and access

  • Auto-Save backs up your camera roll automatically from iOS or Android.
  • Desktop Backup saves folders from your Windows or Mac computer.
  • Upload manually from the web, your mobile device, or your desktop.

Find your photos

With the image-recognition feature, your photos are organized and searchable by people, places, things, and dates. Search using the filter icons, the search bar, or map view, which shows where your photos were taken and is available on iOS, Android, and Web. You can also search with natural language, such as "photos of Maya at the beach last summer."

Note: Image recognition in Amazon Photos is switched on by default, unless you're a resident of Illinois. For residents of Illinois, image recognition is switched off by default.

Organize

  • Group photos into albums.
  • Use Favorites, Hide, and Trash to manage your library.
  • Edit dates and locations.

Memories and Stories

Amazon Photos automatically creates curated slideshows to help you relive and share your favorite memories. Daily Memories surface automatic collections of your photos, This Day shows photos from this date in past years, and auto-generated Stories include Best of Season, Best of Year, Trips, and more.

Share

  • Copy a share link, or share using the iOS or Android share sheet.

Amazon Photos also provides an option to create multiple photo-sharing groups. These groups can be based on interests, events, and relationships with friends and family. Share small or large volumes of photos and videos at their original resolution.

The groups feature allows you to:

  • Create and manage Amazon Photos Sharing through a web browser, a Fire Tablet, or the mobile app.
  • Create up to 2,500 groups.
  • Invite up to 50 members in each group.
  • Add photos, videos, and albums to a group.
  • React or comment on content added to the group.
  • Set a group to be your Echo Show/Spot background or your Fire TV screensaver.
Note:

Select the Sharing icon in the top-right corner of the screen to access shared groups in the iOS or Android apps.

Family Vault

The Family Vault is a digital photo archive built for family and friends.

A Family Vault consists of up to six members including the Prime account owner. You can collect photos and videos together with other members by adding them to the Family Vault. Each member of the Family Vault also gets their own Amazon Photos account at no additional cost. This includes unlimited photo storage and up to 5 GB for videos and other files.

Edit and create

  • Use the built-in photo editor to crop, adjust, and apply filters.
  • Amazon Prints offers a way to create print projects from your Amazon Photos account and have them shipped to your doorstep. Order prints, photo books, and gifts. Amazon Prints is available to U.S. customers and orders can only ship to U.S., APO, and FPO delivery addresses.

On Alexa devices

  • Display your photos on Echo Show, Echo Spot, and Fire TV devices.
  • Choose a device to personalize any Echo Show, Echo Spot, or Fire TV with your own photos or those of family and friends you invite to a sharing group.
  • On Echo Show, use voice search, voice favoriting, voice sharing, and voice reactions.
  • Add the Photo Frame and Favorite Photos widgets on Echo Show.
