Troubleshoot Error Codes for Amazon Smart Home Devices

If you see an error code in the Alexa app when setting up your Amazon Smart Home device, such as your Amazon Smart Thermostat, try some of these troubleshooting steps.

The device couldn't connect because of issues processing your Wi-Fi credentials.

  1. Perform a factory reset on your device.
  2. Open the Alexa app and select Devices .
  3. Select Add Device to proceed through setup instructions.

3:2:0:1

The Alexa app password was incorrect and authentication failed.

Confirm your correct password and re-enter.

3:5:0:1

The device connected to the Wi-Fi router, but it still doesn't have internet connectivity.

Ensure you have internet access on other devices. If not, reach out to your internet service provider to restore access.

3:10:0:3

3:11:0:3

3:13:0:3

This is a registration error.

Retry setup process.

3:14:0:3

Setup failed, either due to a Wi-Fi or registration issue.

Retry setup process.

3:15:0:3

Device registration succeeded and the system waited but timed out to complete post-registration steps.

You might be able to start using the device despite this error. If not, retry setup process.

This is a miscellaneous setup failure.

This happens when a router is detected and the system tried to connect with it, but connection was unsuccessful. This could be because the router went down or the Wi-Fi signal is low and the system failed to detect it.

Move the device closer to the router (or the router closer to the device), and try setup again.

The device is unable to connect to the router/access point.
