What Are Kids and Teen Modes on the Amazon Music apps?

Kids and Teen modes on Amazon Music offers enhanced privacy and security for children and teens. Some Amazon Music features are now limited, keeping the minor user's experience age-appropriate.

App changes with Teen Mode:

  • New profiles are private by default. Existing profiles currently set to public remain so unless changed to private.
    Note: Once the profile is set to private, the teen can't set the profile back to public.
  • The explicit language filter is automatically applied to music and podcasts. Teens can choose turn it off from the Settings menu.
  • Teens can only create private playlists. Any pre-existing playlists currently set to public remain so unless changed to private. Public playlists are locked from editing.
    Note: Once the playlist is set to private, the teen can't set the playlist back to public.
  • Teens can follow and share other people's playlists and profiles, but can no longer share their own playlists or profile, whether public or private.
  • Teens can't use Alexa on Amazon Music for Android and iOS apps.
  • Teens can't access audiobooks.

App changes with Kids Mode:

  • The explicit language filter is automatically applied and can't be removed.
  • No access to Alexa on the Amazon Music for Android or iOS apps.
  • No access to livestreams or videos.
  • No access to audiobooks or podcasts.
  • Kids won't receive push notifications on their device.
  • Playlist changes:
    • Can share Amazon Music created playlists, songs, and albums through direct links and messaging apps, but not social media.
    • Can't share public playlists or follow them.
    • Can't create public playlists. All playlists created are private to the child profile.
  • Profile changes:
    • Don't have an editable profile. If they previously had a profile that was public, they can no longer access it.
    • Can't access other people's profiles, including other profiles on the same account. Because of this, they can no longer follow other people's profiles.
