Learn How We Use Alexa Geolocation Data And How To Delete It
We collect your geolocation data from the Alexa app only if you grant the Alexa app permission to access it from your device. We use this data to provide location-based recommendations, such as weather, traffic, and restaurants, to enable location-based features such as Find My, and to improve the accuracy of Alexa services. You can disable location sharing with the Alexa app at any time through your device’s location sharing settings. You can also request deletion of geolocation data for each device where you have installed the Alexa app by going to Your Account > Manage Your Content and Devices > Alexa.
Submitting a geolocation data deletion request will not delete:
- geolocation data used by the Find My feature, which can be deleted by going to Your Account > Manage Your Content and Devices > Echo and choosing a Find My-enabled device,
- location-based services you have enabled (such as Routines or Reminders, which can be deleted by visiting the Routines or Reminders pages),
- location-based responses provided by Alexa, which can be managed through Alexa App Settings > Alexa Privacy > Review Voice History or at Alexa privacy settings,
- data stored by non-Alexa services that you have granted permission to use your location data (such as Alexa skills, which can be managed through Alexa App Settings > Alexa Privacy > Manage Skill Permissions and Ad Preferences or at Alexa privacy settings), or
- data shared by the Alexa Emergency Assist feature with urgent response providers or your emergency contacts. You can unsubscribe from this feature at any time through Your Account > Memberships & Subscriptions.
