How to Choose Cleaner Energy on Your Amazon Smart Thermostat
To help lower your CO2 emissions, activate Choose Cleaner Energy in the Alexa app.
The feature automatically turns back your set temperature by 1 degree when CO2 emissions from your local electricity source are higher. As a result, you could use less electricity during those times when your HVAC system runs less.
To activate or see the impact of your participation in the Choose Cleaner Energy feature:
- Open the Alexa app
. - Open Devices and select Thermostat
. - Under Thermostat, select your Thermostat to open its control dashboard.
- Select Settings
. - Select Choose Cleaner Energy.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
To see the results of your participation, select Weekly Impact Report.
Important:
- This feature is only available for electric heating or cooling systems that don’t use a heat pump.
- Emergency heat and Vacation Mode take precedence over this feature when in use. To view the forecasted emissions levels for your area, visit the Energy Dashboard (https:amazon.com/energydashboard).
- To use the feature, make sure that you've updated the Alexa app.
