FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS COULD RESULT IN FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, OR OTHER INJURY OR DAMAGE.

CAUTION - ELECTRICALLY OPERATED PRODUCT: The Kids tablet is not recommended for children under 3 years of age. As with all electric products, precautions should be observed during handling and use to prevent electric shock.

The Fire HD 8 Kids and its included accessories are not toys. Children should be supervised to ensure proper use. Parents should also routinely check to confirm that the device shows no signs of damage or breakage and is in safe condition for use by children. The Kids device is not suitable for children under age 3.

CHOKING HAZARD - SMALL PARTS

Small parts contained in or included with the device, such as the door to the SD card slot and other in-box accessories, could come loose or break off and present a choking hazard to small children.

Glass Parts

ALWAYS INSPECT FOR BREAKAGE BEFORE USE WITH THE KID-PROOF AND/OR KID-FRIENDLY CASE. The outside cover of the device's screen is made of glass. This glass could break if the device is dropped or receives a substantial impact. If the glass breaks, chips, or cracks, stop all use of your device and do not permit anyone to touch or attempt to remove the damaged glass. To protect against damage, children should always use the Kid-Proof Case for the Kids tablet. If the device is dropped or impacted, parents should carefully remove the Kid-Proof or Kid-Friendly Case and thoroughly inspect for damage before putting it back in the Kid-Proof or Kid-Friendly Case and permitting a child to resume use.

Battery Safety

Do not disassemble, open, crush, bend, deform, puncture, shred or attempt to access the battery in your device. Do not modify or remanufacture the battery, attempt to insert foreign objects into the battery, or immerse or expose it to water or other liquids, expose to fire, explosion, or other hazard. Only use the battery for the system for which it is specified. Use of an unqualified battery or charger may present a risk of fire, explosion, leakage, or other hazard. Do not short-circuit a battery or allow metal conductive objects to come in contact with battery terminals. Avoid dropping the device or battery. If the device or battery is dropped, especially on a hard surface, and the user suspects damage, do not attempt repair. Contact Amazon Customer Service for assistance.

Other Safety Considerations

WATCH FOR HEALTH RISKS FROM FLASHING LIGHTS OR LIGHT PATTERNS. A small percentage of people may be susceptible to blackouts or seizures (even if they have never had one before) when exposed to flashing lights or light patterns such as when playing games or watching video. If you have experienced seizures or blackouts or have a family history of such occurrences, you should consult a physician before playing games or watching videos. If you experience headaches, blackouts, seizures, convulsions, eye or muscle twitching, loss of awareness, involuntary movement, disorientation, or other discomfort discontinue use of the device and consult a physician. To reduce the risk of these symptoms, ensure that you avoid prolonged use, hold the device some distance from the eyes, and take frequent breaks.

AVOID REPETITIVE USE. Engaging in repetitive motions such as pressing keys or playing some games may cause you to experience occasional discomfort in your hands, arms, shoulders, neck, or other parts of your body.

USE CAUTION WHEN OPERATING VEHICLES. Using your device while operating a vehicle is not recommended and may be prohibited or restricted in some areas. If you are in an area where using your device while operating a vehicle is allowed, always give full attention to the operation of the vehicle and stop using your device if it becomes a distraction.

If you enable location services, your device will transmit location information to applications that request such information, and those applications may share such information with third parties. The location data, which will be used to provide features such as navigation in maps, may be unavailable, inaccurate or incomplete. When using applications with location services, be sure to visually confirm that any instructions are consistent with what you see before following them. Pay attention to road conditions, closures, traffic, and all other factors that may impact your safety.

USE CAUTION AROUND PACEMAKERS AND SIMILAR MEDICAL DEVICES. Personal medical devices, such as pacemakers, may be sensitive to magnetic and electromagnetic fields. Since the device and certain accessories contain magnets and emit electromagnetic fields, they should be kept at least 6 inches (approximately 15 cm) from any personal medical device. If any interference is observed, consult with a physician before resuming use. Items with magnetically-stored data, such as credit cards and hard drives, may also be sensitive to magnetic or electromagnetic fields, and should not be placed near these products.

Parents should monitor duration of use and volume levels to ensure appropriate use by children.

Wireless Safety and Compliance

Turn your wireless connection off in areas where wireless use is forbidden or when it may cause interference or danger. Some specific situations are described below. In general, you should not use your device with your wireless connection turned on any place you are not allowed to use a cellular device.

Turn Off Wireless When Flying

To prevent possible interference with aircraft systems, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration regulations and many other aviation agencies require you to have permission from a crewmember to use your device's wireless service.

Using Your Device Around Other Electronic Devices

Your device generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency (RF) energy and, if not used in accordance with its instructions, may cause interference to radio communications and electronic equipment. External RF signals may affect improperly installed or inadequately shielded electronic operating systems, entertainment systems, and personal medical devices. While most modern electronic equipment is shielded from external RF signals, if in doubt, check with the manufacturer. For personal medical devices (such as pacemakers and hearing aids), consult with your physician or the manufacturer to determine if they are adequately shielded from external RF signals.

Steps to Minimize Interference

If your device causes interference to radio or television reception (which you can determine by powering your device on and off), you can try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: reorient or relocate the receiving antenna for the radio or television; increase the separation between the radio or television and your device; connect equipment and receivers to different outlets; or consult the radio or television manufacturer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

Watch for Signs

There are some places where RF signals could constitute a hazard, such as health care facilities, and construction sites. If you are not sure, look around for signs indicating that two-way radios or cell phones should be turned off.

In addition, turn off and do not charge your device if you are in any area with a potentially explosive atmosphere, as sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or fire. Such areas are usually, but not always, clearly identified, and include areas where you would normally be advised to turn off your vehicle engine.

FCC Compliance Statement

This device and its related accessories like the adapter (the "Products") comply with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation of each Product is subject to the following two conditions: (1) each Product may not cause harmful interference, and (2) each Product must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

Note: The Products have been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device or external switching power supply, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. The Products generate, use and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If a Product does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the Product off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

  • Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
  • Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
  • Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
  • Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

Pursuant to Section 15.21 of the FCC rules, changes or modifications to a Product by the user that are not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.

The device meets the FCC Radio Frequency Emission Guidelines. Information on the product is on file with the FCC and can be found by inputting such Product's FCC ID (which can be found on the device) into the FCC ID Search form available at https://www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid.
