How to Expand Your Fire TV Recast Storage
Connect a compatible external hard drive to your Fire TV Recast to expand your available storage.

Fire TV Recast is compatible with the following external hard drives:
To expand your Fire TV Recast storage:
- Plug your compatible external hard drive into the USB port on the back of your Fire TV Recast. Your device should detect your hard drive automatically.
- When prompted, choose whether you’d like to format the hard drive. Formatting erases any existing files on the hard drive.
If the prompt doesn't appear, you can add your hard drive manually:
- Go to Settings
from your Fire TV menu.
- Select Live TV
, and then Sync Sources.
- Select Fire TV Recast, and then Add External Storage.
Tip: Fire TV Recast reboots whenever you unplug your external storage. Try not to unplug your external storage when a recording is in process.
