Warning Against Distracted Driving

Distracted driving can be dangerous and result in serious injury, death, or property damage. Always pay full attention to the road. Do not allow interactions with this device or Alexa to distract you while driving. You are solely responsible for safely operating your vehicle and complying with all applicable laws regarding use of electronic devices while driving. Always observe posted road signs, traffic laws, and consider road conditions.

Do not access the Alexa App while driving. Do not set up, mount, or adjust the mounting of your Echo Auto while driving. Follow the mounting instructions in this guide to mount your Echo Auto only while the vehicle is parked in a safe place.

Warning Against Improper Mounting

Follow the instructions in this guide to mount your Echo Auto with the included accessories. Do not use Echo Auto in the vehicle without mounting it. Use only the accessories included, or approved for use, with Echo Auto to mount the device in your vehicle. If using the adhesive mount included with the Echo Auto, mount on a clean, flat surface made of metal, hard plastic, or wood. Do not use the adhesive mount included with the Echo Auto on soft plastic, vinyl, leather, or other soft surface. Failure to follow these mounting instructions or mounting instructions included with an approved accessory may result in permanent damage to mounting surfaces, including but not limited to, cracking, tearing, or indentation of the surface.

Do not place Echo Auto or any accessory where it may obstruct your view of the road or interfere with the controls of the vehicle or rear view mirror. Do not mount Echo Auto such that the cable obstructs your car's gearshift, steering wheel, steering column, driver's footwell, or other area that may interfere with the control of your vehicle. Keep the speaker module rested on a flat surface at all times. Do not allow the speaker module to hang by the wire. Any such obstruction or interference could result in serious injury, death, or property damage. Do not place Echo Auto or any accessory on or above any airbag compartments, which could result in serious injury, death, or property damage. Improperly mounting Echo Auto could pose a projectile risk and/or risk of cable entanglement, which could result in serious injury, death, or property damage. You are solely responsible for mounting Echo Auto in compliance with all applicable laws.

Maintaining Your Echo Auto

Do not expose your device to extreme heat or cold. Store Echo Auto in a location where temperatures remain within the Echo Auto device storage temperature range set forth in this guide. For example, if your car will be parked in extreme heat or cold conditions for a prolonged period, remove your Echo Auto device from its mount and store it in another place, such as your house.

Echo Auto, the included in-car power adapter and cables are designed to function within the temperature rating set forth in this guide. If it is too hot or too cold inside the vehicle, Echo Auto may not turn on or function properly until it has cooled or warmed, as the case may be, to within the temperature rating. Echo Auto and its included accessories may become hot during normal use especially in warmer environments. To reduce the risk of overheating or heat-related injuries, keep the device and its accessories well ventilated and use care when handling them.

Your Echo Auto ships with an in-car power adapter. You should only use the Echo Auto with these included accessories. Do not use the included power adapter with any other device.

Install your dc power adaptor into an easily accessible socket-outlet located near the equipment that will be plugged into, or powered by, the dc adaptor.

Not recommended to use the device adaptor to charge the device after leaving your car.

Make sure the device or the adaptor are not covered with blanket, clothes or gloves.

Other Safety Considerations

  • Do not expose Echo Auto to rain, moisture or snow. Take care not to spill any food or liquid on your Echo Auto and do not put any object filled with a liquid, such as a cup of coffee, near your Echo Auto. If your device or power adapter gets wet, turn off your car and carefully unplug all cables without getting your hands wet, then wait for the device to dry completely before plugging it in again. Face the USB port downward to help drain the device. Do not attempt to dry your Echo Auto with an external heat source, such as a microwave oven, hair dryer or under the sun.
  • Only handle your Echo Auto with clean hands. Clean the device with a soft cloth that is slightly damp with water; be careful not to wipe it with anything abrasive or to use any harsh chemicals.
  • If after removing the Echo Auto Mount there is residue on the area where the Echo Auto Mount was located, clean the area with household adhesive remover which is non-abrasive, non-flammable and non-toxic.
  • Magnet Warning: Both the Echo Auto and the Echo Auto Dash Mount contain magnets. Under certain circumstances, magnets may cause interference with some internal medical devices, including pacemakers and insulin pumps. Devices and mounts that contain magnets should be kept away from such medical devices.
  • Street Navigation Warning: If Echo Auto is used to provide navigation assistance in conjunction with a navigation application, input destinations and set up the navigation program in your mobile device before you start driving. Echo Auto cannot guarantee the accuracy of route suggestions provided and shall not be liable for any penalties arising from your failure to comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Do not force the adapter into your car's power outlet.
  • Do not expose the adapter or cable to liquids.
  • If the adapter or cable appears damaged, discontinue use immediately.
  • Do not touch your Echo Auto or any cables connected to your Echo Auto during a lightning storm.
  • Avoid dropping your power adapter. Do not disassemble the adapter.
  • Do not overload your power adapter by plugging devices into it that exceed the power adapter's electrical ratings. The total electrical load on the power adapter must not exceed 15W.
  • WARNING – Do not hang any type of accessory or accessory bracket from the plug.

Using Your Device Around Other Electronic Devices

Amazon Echo Auto generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency (RF) energy and, if not used in accordance with its instructions, may cause interference to radio communications and electronic equipment. External RF signals may affect improperly installed or inadequately shielded electronic operating systems, entertainment systems, and personal medical devices. While most modern electronic equipment is shielded from external RF signals, if in doubt, check with the manufacturer. For personal medical devices (such as pacemakers and hearing aids), consult with your physician or the manufacturer to determine if they are adequately shielded from external RF signals.
