Troubleshoot App Issues on Your Child’s Profile

Troubleshoot App not loading issue on your Amazon Kids Tablet.

If you add or request an app for your child’s profile but it isn't appearing in their profile, use the steps below to find and install it. Apps for your child's Amazon Kids tablet can come from two separate stores, and all downloads happen inside the child profile.

Before you start:

Apps can be added to your child's profile from either of these sources:

  • Amazon Kids+ Store — content included with your Amazon Kids+ subscription. This content appears on your child's profile automatically. To see everything included with your subscription, visit the Parent Dashboard (https://parents.amazon.com) or open the free Parent Dashboard app on iOS or Android.
  • Google Play Store — apps your child searches for and requests directly from the Playstore. For more information, visit Install apps from Play Store on your Amazon Kids Tablet.
Important: You can download Apps for each child profile separately. Adding or downloading an app from your adult profile and transferring it to the child profile is not supported. If you are trying to add the app for a child profile, switch to the child profile and add it in the child profile.

Google Services Apps require allowlisting from the Parent Dashboard

Some apps come pre-installed on the device but required to be allowed (turned on) before it can appear in the child's profile. If you weren't able to add the app through either store, check whether it's one of these apps:

  1. Go to the Parent Dashboard (https://parents.amazon.com) on mobile or web.
  2. Select the Child profile.
  3. Find Your Apps and Content.
  4. Look for your desired app in the list.
  5. If your app is listed, select the app and toggle it on for the child profile you want.

The app should now appear in that child's profile. If the issue still persist, try following steps:

  • Make sure that the tablet is connected to internet.
  • Make sure you're signed in to the correct Amazon account and the child profile that is intend to manage.
  • Play Store says "no results" on child's profile: Make sure Google Play Store access is fully enabled and your child is signed in with a Google account.
Note: If the Google account is school-managed, it may block Play Store access, try creating a separate personal Google account for your child to use on the tablet.
  • Not receiving approval requests in Family Link: Confirm that your child's Google account is linked to your Google Family Link account. Open the Google Family Link app on your phone and verify your child's profile appears under your family group. Also check that any pending install request from the child's profile is waiting for your approval.
  • App downloaded but not appearing: Check that the app is compatible with the tablet — some apps may require specific hardware features. Restart the tablet if the app doesn't appear after installation. If it's an app that comes pre-installed, make sure it's already listed in Parent Dashboard (refer to Step 3 above).
  • Previously purchased apps not transferring: Apps purchased through the Amazon Kids Store on previous Fire Kids tablets cannot be transferred to a new Amazon Kids Tablet. You may need to repurchase them through the Google Play Store or see if a free version is available.
