What is voice shopping in the Amazon Shopping app?

You can search for products using just your voice on the Amazon Shopping app. For example, you can tap the microphone icon in the search bar and say things such as, "search for air fryer" or "noise cancelling headphones" to receive product search results. You can also select the microphone icon in the chat window to ask Alexa your shopping questions by voice.

What happens when I shop using my voice?

When you tap the microphone icon in the search bar or Alexa for Shopping chat window and begin speaking, a recording of what you said is sent to Amazon's cloud where we process your request. As you're speaking, we transcribe what you say into text and show it in the search bar or the Alexa for Shopping chat window. When you stop speaking, we start a search or request to Alexa in the same way as if you had typed it into the search bar or the Alexa for Shopping chat window. We'll automatically delete your voice recording after we process your request. We store and use your voice search transcript as described in our Privacy Notice.

How can I review and manage the transcripts of my voice shopping requests to Alexa in the Amazon Shopping app?

Where can I go to adjust my permission settings for voice shopping?

To adjust the permission settings for voice shopping:

  1. In your Amazon Shopping app, select the You Tab icon in the bottom navigation bar.
  2. Go to Settings and select Permissions.
  3. In the Permissions dashboard, find the Microphone section, and then find Shop with voice.
  4. Toggle to turn on and off the microphone permission for Shop with voice.
