Amazon Astro Is Triggering My Ring Alarm
Troubleshooting tips for Astro and the Ring motion sensor.
- Change the placement of your Astro charging dock and check that it's not within 15 ft of a Ring motion detector.
- Set Ring's motion detector to Medium Detection Mode in the Ring app. Select Alarm > Motion Detector > Motion Settings > Medium Detection.
- If your Astro device still triggers Ring motion detectors after setting Motion Detection to Medium Detection, create an Out of Bounds Zone. This keeps Astro at least 15 ft away from your Ring motion detector. Astro can't enter Out of Bounds Zones while on patrol.
- To help reduce false alarms when Astro is near Ring Alarm Motion Detectors, make sure they are installed at the recommended height. Install 1st Generation Motion Detectors at 7 ft high. Install 2nd Generation Motion Detectors at 7 ft 6 in high.
- Using your Ring app, set each of the Motion Detectors to Medium Detection.
- Make sure that Astro's charger is placed at least 15 ft away from any Ring Alarm Motion Detectors.
- If Astro still triggers motion alerts after following these steps, you can create out of bounds zones for Astro using your Astro app to keep Astro at least 15 ft away from your motion detectors. Or, you can edit Astro's patrol settings in the Astro app to remove any viewpoints from your patrol that are near your motion detectors.
- Finally, if you continue to receive false motion alerts triggered by Astro you can set your motion detector to Low Detection mode in your Ring app. Using Low Detection in a business environment may lead to missed detections and can increase the time required to detect motion and trigger Ring Alarm. We strongly recommend that you set your Motion Detectors to at least Medium Detection.
