Find a Lightning Deal

Lighting Deals are time-sensitive promotions, available one per customer, until the offer ends or all deals are claimed. You can find them on Today's Deals. During Prime Day or Prime Big Deal days, Lightning Deals are exclusive to Prime members. When there's a Lightning Deal, you'll find:

  • The item featured in the deal, that's marked with a Lightning Deal badge
  • Available variations of the item, like a different size or color
  • The discount amount and final price, not including tax
  • The status bar indicating the percentage of deals already claimed
  • A timer indicating how long you have left to add the item to your cart and claim the discount
  • An Add to Cart button, for any deals that are still available
  • A Join Waitlist button, if all the deals are sold or added to a customer cart
  • A Sold Out or All Discounts Claimed button, when the product is only available to purchase at the non-deal price.

Lightning Deal Waitlists

The Join Waitlist button is displayed when all Lightning Deals are bought or are in a customer cart. The button is deactivated when the waitlist is full. Once added to a cart, customers have 15 minutes to complete their purchase. If they don't buy it in time, the next customer on the waitlist is notified that the deal is available.

To use the Lightning Deal waitlist:

  1. On a Lightning Deal product page, choose Join Waitlist.
  2. When you're next on the waitlist, an alert will indicate that the deal is available. If you've turned on notifications in the latest version of the Amazon app, you'll get a phone notification.
  3. Add the deal to your cart within the time limit. If you don't, you'll be removed from the waitlist.
  4. Complete your purchase and redeem the discount within 15 minutes. If you don't, the deal will be offered to the next customer on the waitlist.

Waitlist places are limited. Joining a waitlist doesn't mean you'll get the deal.

The waitlist expires when the promotion expires. All customers on the waitlist then lose their chance to claim the Lightning Deal.

Claim a Lightning Deal

You must use the same account to claim and purchase a Lightning Deal. Lightning Deal promotional discounts aren't transferrable to other Amazon accounts.

To claim a Lightning Deal:

  1. From Today's Deals:
    1. Go to the Lightning Deal
    2. Choose Add to Cart or Choose Options.
Or from the product page, select Add to Cart.
  2. If you get a Checking deal status, don't reload or refresh the page. We're checking your eligibility based on the first-come, first-served basis.
  3. The item will be available in your cart at the Lightning Deal price for 15 minutes. You need to complete your order within 15 minutes before the offer ends. If not, the discount will expire, and your cart will display the everyday Amazon price for that item.
  4. Select Proceed to Checkout. Check the promotional discount in the Lightning Deal section of the order summary before you place your order.
  5. If you're taken to the payment methods page, ensure you've selected the Use your gift card or promotional balance option.

Change or cancel a Lightning Deal order

To change your order's address or payment details, go to Change Your Order Information instead of canceling and reordering. You'll avoid the risk of the Deal selling out or expiring before you re-order with the correct information.

If you cancel a Lightning Deal order, you can't order that same Lightning Deal again until 30 minutes have passed. The time limit applies even if the deal is still active. If the Lightning Deal sells out or expires before you reorder, you can purchase the item at the non-deal price.
