Safety and Compliance Information
Safety and Compliance Information
Use Responsibly. Read all instructions and safety information before use.
FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS COULD RESULT IN FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, OR OTHER INJURY OR DAMAGE.
Maintaining Your Fire TV Recast
Do not use your Fire TV Recast or accessories (collectively referred to as “the device” or “devices”) near sinks or other wet locations. Take care not to spill any food or liquid on your Device and do not put any object filled with a liquid, such as a vase, on or near your Device. If your device does get wet, carefully unplug all cables without getting your hands wet and wait for the device to dry completely before plugging it in again. Do not attempt to dry your Device with an external heat source, such as a microwave oven or hair dryer.
Only handle your Device with clean hands. Clean your Device only with a soft cloth that is slightly damp with water and a touch of rubbing alcohol; be careful not to wipe it with anything abrasive or to use any harsh chemicals. Do not expose your Device to steam, extreme heat or cold. For example, do not install your Device near any heat sources such as space heaters, heater vents, radiators, stoves, or other things that produce heat.
Use of third-party accessories may impact your Device performance. In limited circumstances, use of third-party accessories may void your Device limited warranty. Read all safety instructions for any accessories before using with your Device.
Your Device does not have an on/off button. If you wish to stop power from flowing into your device, unplug the power adapter. Only use the included power adapter with your Device. Do not force the power adapter into a power outlet. If the power adapter or cable appears damaged, discontinue use immediately. Do not plug multiple electric devices into the same wall socket. Overloading a socket can cause it to overheat and may result in a fire.
Your Device may get hot during normal use. If you find the device has become hot to the touch, unplug power and let it cool down for a few minutes before handling.

Other Safety Considerations
- Do not stack Fire TV Recast on top of other entertainment devices, such as a Blu-Ray player or game console, or stack entertainment devices on top of Fire TV Recast.
- Fire TV Recast should be located and positioned in a way that provides proper ventilation. For instance, Fire TV Recast should not be placed in a built-in installation such as a cabinet in a way that may block the flow of air through the ventilation holes on the sides of the device. Additionally, do not block Fire TV Recast ventilation holes by placing items directly against the sides of the unit.
- Never push objects of any kind into the ventilation holes of your Fire TV Recast, as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short the parts, resulting in the risk of fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on Fire TV Recast.
- Avoid moving Fire TV Recast while it is plugged in in order to avoid risk of shock.
- A small percentage of people may be susceptible to blackouts or seizures (even if they have never had one before) when exposed to flashing lights or light patterns, such as when watching video or playing games. If you have experienced seizures or blackouts or have a family history of such occurrences, you should consult a doctor before watching videos or playing games.
- Discontinue use of your device and consult a physician if you experience headaches, blackouts, seizures, convulsion, eye or muscle twitching, loss of awareness, involuntary movement, disorientation, or other discomfort. To reduce risk of these symptoms avoid prolonged use, watch your television from a far distance and in a well-lit room, and take frequent breaks.
- Handle your Fire TV Recast and its accessories with care. Your Fire TV Recast or its accessories may have pointed edges which can lead to scratches, cuts, or other physical injury.
- The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that television should be avoided for infants and children under age 2. Do not touch your Fire TV Recast or any wires connected to your Fire TV Recast during a lightning storm.
- Do not expose adapter or cable to liquids
- If the adapter or cable appears damaged, discontinue use immediately.
- Power adapter designed only for use with Fire TV Recast.
If you connect Fire TV Recast to an outside antenna, please do all of the following:
- Be sure the outside antenna is grounded as to provide some protection against voltage surges and built-up static charges. Article 810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, provides information with regard to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an outdoor antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of outdoor antenna-discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode.
- Be sure that the coaxial cable shield/screen is grounded as close as practical to the point of entry of the cable into the building. This recommendation is pursuant to Article 800-93 and Article 800-100 of the National Electric Code, which provides guidelines for proper grounding of the coaxial cable shield.
- Unplug Fire TV Recast during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time so as to protect against lighting surges. Disconnect the AC power from the wall outlet as well any signal input (e.g., the outdoor antenna input).
Using Your Fire TV Recast Around Other Electronic Devices
Fire TV Recast generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency (RF) energy and, if not used in accordance with its instructions, may cause interference to radio communications and electronic equipment. External RF signals may affect improperly installed or inadequately shielded electronic operating systems, entertainment systems, and personal medical devices. While most modern electronic equipment is shielded from external RF signals, if in doubt, check with the manufacturer. For personal medical devices (such as pacemakers and hearing aids), consult with your physician or the manufacturer to determine if they are adequately shielded from external RF signals.
There are some places where RF signals could constitute a hazard, such as health care facilities, and construction sites. If you are not sure, look around for signs indicating that two-way radios or mobile phones should be turned off.
The devices QX91KB and QX91KA should be installed and operated with at least 20 cm between the radiator and your body.
