Block or Unblock Alexa Contacts

Use the Alexa app to block specific Alexa contacts from calling or messaging you. You can also block contacts from sharing photos in Alexa Messages.

To block or unblock an Alexa contact:

  1. Open the Alexa app .
  2. Select More .
  3. Open Communicate .
  4. Select the contacts icon .
  5. Select the menu icon , then select Block Contacts.
  6. Select to block or unblock the contact.

Blocking a contact does not automatically unshare photos you have shared with this contact in the past through Alexa Messages. You must unshare them through Amazon Photos. If you unshare or delete photos, the recipient can no longer view them on their Echo device with a screen, Fire TV device, or Amazon Photos app. The photo is still viewable from the message thread in the Alexa app.

Note: When you block a contact, your Alexa contact can't contact you using Alexa Communication. If you choose to unblock the contact, nothing shared during the blocked period shows up.
