Make Announcements with Alexa

Use Alexa to make one-way announcements to all Alexa-enabled devices registered to your account.

Just tell Alexa what you want to announce.

  • "Announce, dinner is ready."
  • "Announce, I'm headed home."
  • "Announce, it's bed time."
  • "Tell everyone it's time to go."
  • "Tell [name] to come downstairs."
  • "Tell [name] to take out the trash."

Tip: You can make some announcements on Echo Show devices with animated 3D characters:
  • "Announce it's time to wake up," announced by a sun character.
  • "Announce it's time for dinner," announced by a bread character.
  • "Announce meow," announced by a cat character.

Alexa+ now delivers announcements in Alexa's voice by default. To switch back to the speaker's voice:

  1. Open the Alexa app .
  2. Open More , and select Settings.
  3. Select Communication.
  4. Select Announcement Preference, and choose Announce in Speaker's voice.

To send a text or voice announcement with the Alexa app:

  1. Select More .
  2. Select Communicate .
  3. Select Announce .
  4. Type your message, or select the microphone and record a voice announcement.

Tip: When typing in text announcements, use emojis to add sound effects to your announcement.
