Create a Trade-In
Create a trade-in order for eligible cell phones, video games, Amazon Devices (Kindle, Tablet, Fire TV, Echo, Home Security Devices, and eero) and other eligible electronics. For eligible trade-in orders, you will receive an Amazon.com Gift Card and may qualify for (i) a limited-time promotional discount towards the purchase of a qualifying Amazon Device (Kindle, Tablet, Fire TV, Echo, Home Security Devices, and eero), or (ii) an Amazon limited-time rebate.
Only customers that provide a valid return address in the contiguous United States are eligible to submit trade ins. We cannot accept trade-ins with Amazon Lockers, PO boxes, APO (Army Post Offices) or FPO (Fleet Post Offices).
To create a Trade-in:
- You can start your Trade-in in two ways:
a) From a product detail page: Go to the detail page of the new item that you want to purchase. To confirm that the item is eligible for trade-in promotion, check for the Trade-In button or trade-in offer next to the price or in the Trade-In and Save section. Note: The promotional amount displayed may represent the maximum available offer. Your actual promotional amount will be confirmed during the trade-in process.
b) From the Trade-in Store: Go to the Trade-in Store to browse all eligible items by category and view promotional offers, if applicable.
- Select items to add to your Trade-in submission.
- Select the condition of your item based on the criteria listed.
Important: If your self-assessment results in a trade-in value that exceeds the price of the item you're purchasing, an error message will be displayed and you won’t be able to complete the trade-in.
- Select what to do if we find that your item is in a worse condition than originally specified. You have the option to accept an adjusted offer or have your trade-in order canceled and the item returned to you.
- Select Continue.
- Review and choose a return address. This address is used to return any items that aren't accepted.
- Select Confirm Trade-in.
When the Trade-In order is created, you’ll receive an email confirmation with instructions for sending your trade-in item(s). Either ship your trade-in item(s) with the prepaid UPS Drop-Off label or drop off your eligible Amazon Device (Kindle, Tablet, Fire TV, Echo, Home Security Devices, and eero) at a participating Trade-In Location. To find a list of participating locations by state, go to Amazon Trade-In Participating Locations.
For Trade-in limits and shipping requirements, visit The Amazon Trade-in Program.
- You'll receive updates via email when your Trade-in order has been completed, and your Trade-in benefits have been applied to your account.
- Amazon Devices (Kindle, Tablet, Fire TV, Echo, Home Security Devices, and eero) orders that are dropped off at participating locations are typically verified the same day.
- If you ship your trade-in item(s) to us, we’ll verify it within 20 business days after we receive your trade-in item, after which you’ll receive your Amazon limited-time rebate (if applicable) to your original payment method and your trade-in value as an Amazon.com Gift Card to your Amazon account. If you qualify for Instant Payment, you’ll receive your Amazon.com Gift Card when you create your trade-in order. If we receive a different model than the one you selected, or you have your device returned to you for any reason, your promotional rebate may be adjusted or removed. You will be notified via email.
