Amazon Secured Card Security Deposit

The Amazon Secured Card is a unique credit card with two sets of features - the Secured Card features and the Store Card features - designed for people who are looking to build or rebuild their credit.

Once approved for an Amazon Secured Card account, you will only be able to access the Secured Card features which requires you to make a security deposit to open your account. Your credit limit will equal to the amount of the security deposit.

Making a Security Deposit for Amazon Secured Card

If you are approved for the Amazon Secured Card, you must complete your security deposit submission within 60 days by visiting www.amazon.com/securedcard on your desktop or mobile device and following the instructions on the page. When you pay with a debit card, you are presented with the payment methods in your Amazon Wallet. If you have trouble submitting your deposit, contact Synchrony Bank at 1-855-597-4893.

Security Deposit Refund

If you close your account and have paid your balance in full, you will receive your security deposit back by mail. If your Amazon Secured Card is upgraded to the unsecured Amazon Store Card, Synchrony Bank will automatically issue an unsecured Amazon Store Card account to you and refund your security deposit.

Your deposit can be returned to you in several ways, all as per your account terms. If your account is closed for any reason, Synchrony Bank will return your deposit funds minus any amount needed to pay off any existing balances. If you choose to activate the Store Card features, your deposit will be returned to you minus the amount needed to pay off any:

  1. existing non-promotional balance on the Secured Card features
  2. expiring (within 2 months) deferred interest promotional balances and required payments due on Equal Monthly Payment balances
  3. remaining minimum payments due on the account if not covered by 1 and 2

Applying Security Deposits to Monthly Payments

The security deposit does not cover your monthly payments. You must still pay at least your minimum payment due on time each month.

Increasing Credit Line

Your credit line will be equal to the amount of the security deposit you provide. Once the deposit is submitted for your Amazon Secured Card account, you cannot edit the deposit form or amount. Synchrony Bank does allow some cardmembers, approved for the Amazon Secured Card, to add additional deposits up to their approved credit limit on their Amazon Secured Card account. If you're eligible to submit an additional deposit, we'll notify you via email and add a link for you on www.amazon.com/securedcard.
