Set a preferred seller with buying policies
Administrators can use buying policies to designate specific sellers as preferred sellers. They can also designate preferred sellers based on certain business criteria.
Note: Buying policies differ based on your level of Prime Business.
To set a preferred seller:
- Go to Business Settings.
- Select Buying policies & approvals in the Buying policies section.
- Select the group whose settings you want to edit.
- Select Add policy, and then choose the group Preferred policies.
- Select either Prefer sellers or Preferred sellers that certify compliance with Section 889, depending on the policy you want to create.
- Enter a policy name, a message for buyers and a message for administrators.
- Select if the policy should apply to the current group only, or to that group and all subgroups. If you choose This group and its subgroups, the approval settings apply automatically to any subgroups you create.
- If you're creating a Prefer seller policy:
- Use the search option to look for a specific supplier or use the options on the page to refine your results. From the Actions menu, you can view the seller's profile, storefront, returns policy, ask them a question, and add them as a preferred supplier.
- Alternatively, select the seller's name from the search results. This link brings you to a seller profile page, where you can further analyze the seller and select Add to preferred sellers.
- Optionally, you can designate specific product categories for your preferred seller. You can also choose to mark the seller as preferred only when their product offer falls within a target range of the best offer price.
- If you’re creating Preferred sellers that certify compliance with Section 889 policy:
- Choose if you want to apply the policy to all products sold by sellers that have certified compliance with Section 889 or only products from specific categories. Note: If you apply the policy to all products, it will overwrite any other restriction or blocked policies and show the product as recommended to the buyer.
- If you select Apply policy only to products from specific categories, you can designate one or more product categories by selecting Select categories.
- Select Save.
