Turn On Notify When Nearby
With Notify When Nearby, Alexa detects if you're near an Echo device and sends alert sounds when you have new notifications.
When Notify When Nearby is turned on, Alexa can detect if you're near an eligible Echo device and alert you about unread notifications by replaying a notification sound.
With Notify When Nearby, Alexa uses various signals to determine if someone is nearby.
- If you've turned on phone ID via the Alexa app, Alexa can use this information to detect whether your phone is nearby.
- If you've created an Alexa voice ID, Alexa will recognize your voice when you interact with your Echo device.
- If you created a Visual ID, Alexa will recognize your face when you're in view of the device camera.
To turn on Notify When Nearby:
- Open the Alexa app
. - Open More
and select Settings
. - Select Accessibility.
- Turn Notify When Nearby on or off.
