Amazon Key Terms of Use

Last Updated: October 26, 2021

This is an agreement between you and Amazon.com Services LLC (and its affiliates, "Amazon" or "we"). Before using Amazon Key, please read these Amazon Key Terms of Use, the Amazon.com Privacy Notice, the Amazon.com Conditions of Use, and the other applicable rules, policies, and terms posted on the Amazon.com website or available through your Amazon Key app (collectively, this "Agreement"). By using Amazon Key, you agree to be bound by the terms of this Agreement on behalf of yourself and all members of your household and others who use the service under your account. If you do not accept the terms of this Agreement, then you may not use Amazon Key.

For the purpose of these Amazon Key Terms of Use:

"Amazon Key" means Amazon's remote access management services, including the Amazon Key app and other related services.

"Compatible Product" means any product, device, software or application designated for use with Amazon Key, such as Amazon Key-compatible smart locks, garage door openers, gates and cameras.

"Recordings" means any audio, image, video, or other types of recordings made in connection with your use of Amazon Key.

"Software" means all software (including any updates or new versions), and any related documentation, that we make available to you for use in connection with Amazon Key.

1. In-Home, In-Garage, and In-Gate Delivery. With Amazon Key, you can enable in-home, in-garage, or in-gate delivery at eligible addresses. If you place an order with in-home, in-garage, or in-gate delivery, you are authorizing Amazon and its delivery providers to access the home, garage, or other location that you designate as the order shipping address or your linked vehicle, for the purpose of delivering your order. By placing an order with in-home, in-garage, or in-gate delivery, you are confirming that you have the right to authorize Amazon and its delivery providers to access the designated home, garage, or vehicle. Amazon and its delivery providers reserve the right to decline to deliver your order in-home, in-garage, or in-gate for any reason. Learn more about in-home and in-garage delivery.

2. Guest and Service Provider Access. You can use Amazon Key to provide and manage access permissions for guests and service providers. If you receive access permission from somebody else, such as a one-day keypad code for a lock, information about your use of Amazon Key with respect to that permission will be shared with the person who provided the permission.

3. Compatible Products.

3.1. If you use a Compatible Product that is connected to a third party account, you can link that account with your Amazon account to enable certain Amazon Key functionality. If you link an account that you have with a third party, we may exchange related information with that third party, and send commands to Compatible Products that are connected to your account. For example, when you link a Ring Access Controller Pro, we may receive information about your device's location, and send lock, unlock, alert horn and flash lights commands to the associated device, for the purpose of delivering your order. There may be additional third party terms applicable to third party accounts and related services. If you do not accept the third party terms, do not use that account.

3.2. Amazon may automatically update the firmware for certain Compatible Products on behalf of the applicable manufacturer.

4. Information Provided to Amazon; Your Recordings.

4.1. The Software provides Amazon with information about your use and the performance of Amazon Key, the Software, and Compatible Products, as well as information regarding the devices on which you download and use Amazon Key. For example, this may include information about Compatible Products and how they were operated; access permissions for guests and service providers and when guests and service providers used Amazon Key; and occurrences of technical errors. We will handle any information we receive in accordance with the Amazon.com Privacy Notice.

4.2. If you use a Compatible Product capable of creating Recordings, we will process and retain your Recordings in the cloud to provide and improve our services. You give us all permissions we need to do so. Learn more about Recordings, including how to delete your video clips.

5. General.

5.1. Amazon Key Requirements. Certain Amazon Key features require one or more Compatible Products. In addition, some Amazon Key services may not be available in all areas and may require separate subscriptions, memberships, a data plan, or an internet connection.

5.2. Geographic Restrictions. You may access and use Amazon Key only in the United States. We may restrict access to Amazon Key from other locations.

5.3. Disputes. Any dispute or claim arising from or relating to this Agreement or Amazon Key is subject to the dispute resolution, governing law, disclaimer of warranties, limitation of liability, and all other terms in the Amazon.com Conditions of Use.

5.4. Disclaimers. Amazon has no responsibility or liability for the following: third party accounts or services; Compatible Products that Amazon does not manufacture or develop and manufacturer-provided firmware for such products; any guests or service providers to whom you provide access permission.

5.5. Changes to Amazon Key. We may change, suspend, limit, or discontinue Amazon Key, or any part of it, at any time without notice. We may amend any of this Agreement's terms at our sole discretion by posting the revised terms on the Amazon.com website. Your continued use of Amazon Key after the effective date of the revised Agreement constitutes your acceptance of the terms.
